I'm Ruth Mejia and I have many goals for the college. First of all, one of my goals is study very hard to pass the CAT-W test. This test will decide that if go to the college to take regular classes or if I have to take basic skills classes. I hope take my regular classes. Next, is put attention in every new stuff that I have to learn because, if I don't put attention, I won't improve my knowledge. Moreover, is to get my Forensic Science Degree that is very important to me. Finally we learn a lot of things about our college these two past weeks such as qcc clubs, single stop, and one card. I will explain each one of them below.
QCC CLUBS
The past Tuesday we went to learn more about the clubs at qcc campus. In my opinion, I liked the International Student Club, S.O.D.A Club, and the Biology Club. Those clubs have a lot of interesting activities for us.
I would like to join the International Student Club because there I will meet and learn from a lot of people from different countries. We as students can share our knowledge about our majors how are the classes, teachers or we can talk about our countries such as traditions, food, history, etc. The purpose of the International Students Club is to promote friendship in the students, make new peers, have a good time, learn from others and be social.

Health Services and Nursing
Today we went to our college hour
#6. Simon Ulubabov and Alexandra Tarasko gave us some value information about
diabetes and nursing mayor.
Something that I found interesting is that in the past people used to taste the urine to diagnose if somebody had or hadn’t diabetes. There also are two types of diabetes. Type one is the diabetes that we born with doesn’t matter if you are overweight or thin. Type two is the diabetes that we get after caused for obesity, sedentary life or diet.

Asian Cultural Festival
RUTH
On Wednesday I went to the Asian Cultural Festival at the Student Union Building. There were different stages such as Chinese calligraphy, Chinese knotting, crocheting, Indian henna and multicolor pencil Chinese painting. All these activities were very interesting.
First of all I got my name writes in Chinese calligraphy, this looks beautiful. Next, I went to the Chinese knotting stage where I could see how these girls are experts whit this and made awesome knots. At the crocheting stage I tried to practice this but I felt. Crocheting isn't for me.
Finally I observed the Chinese Percussion Music, Korean Taekwondo, Chinese Folk Dance and Bollywood Dance, all great performances. I really enjoy the festival.

CLASS VISIT
On Thursday I went to my astronomy class visit with professor Holden.
The topic of the class was about mercury, venus, mars and parallax.
First I learned that mercury orbital period is 88 days, it is hot, mercury has a 3/2 tidal lock by the sun, and has a partially molten iron core. Therefore, a morning to evening period in mercury is longer than a year. Second I learned that venus is hotter than mercury. Venus has a 225 orbital period days. Venus also has a noxious atmosphere and the pressure is 90 times higher than the earth. Moreover venus is the morning and evening star that bright in the sky before and after the sun. Venus and mars are masses that mean that those planets don't have moons. Mars is really cold and has a 687 orbital period days and also is know as the "red planet".
Finally I learned that when nearby objects shift more than far objects as viewpoints changes, it is parallax. For example, moon follows you as you walk (it doesn't appear to shift since it is so far away). In addition most stars have parallaxes so small that we cant measure them. This class was very interesting . I hope can visit more classes in the future.
